Ronkonkoma, New York, June 13, 2018 – Today Alken Industries, Inc. announced that Tom Iervolino has been hired as President and Chief Executive Officer, effective June 19, 2018. Kim Senior, who has served as President/CEO of Alken since 2008, will be retiring from day to day operations of the company. Ms. Senior, who is a shareholder of the business, will remain on the board of directors of the privately and closely held Alken. Bridgette Senior, shareholder, and current President, will refocus her efforts as head of Business Development; and will be reporting to Mr. Iervolino
Mr. Iervolino is an accomplished and seasoned aerospace and defense industry executive. Prior to joining Alken, Mr. Iervolino served 21 years with Valcor Engineering, a private company, since 1951, has been an industry leader in the design and manufactures of solenoid valves and controls for critical applications in the aerospace and nuclear industries. Throughout his tenure at Valcor, Mr. Iervolino continually rose to increasing levels of responsibilities. Ultimately, Mr. Iervolino became Chief Operating Officer and President of Valcor Engineering. Mr. Iervolino earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from Manhattan College and completed an in-residence Senior Executive Management Training Program at The Kellogg School of Management. Mr. Iervolino and his wife are in the process of moving from New Jersey to the Ronkonkoma area.
Regarding her retirement from Alken, Ms. Senior commented “Alken was founded by our father, Ken Senior, more than 40 years ago, and it has been my honor and privilege to work with my sister, Bridgette, to continue our father’s great legacy. A while ago I decided that 2018 was the year for me to step down and spend more time with my family. I am delighted that Tom has decided to lead Alken into the future. We have been planning for this day for a while and we spent considerable time looking for the right industry executive to assume the leadership role at Alken. In terms of my involvement going forward, I plan to support Tom and actively provide strategic guidance to him, in my new role as an engaged owner that is not involved in day-to-day operations.”
In response, Mr. Iervolino commented “it is with great respect and appreciation that I have accepted the leadership post at Alken. I did not know Ken Senior, but I know of his great legacy and I will do everything in my power to continue the great history of Alken, to honor Ken Senior and to advance the hard work done by Kim and Bridgette since his passing.
