Sikorsky 2015 Supplier Conference
Bridgette Senior and Jim Madden attended the Sikorsky 2015 Supplier Conference held at the National Guard Memorial on March 17 and 18.

Visits were made to our Congressional leaders in both the House ( Peter King, Kathleen Rice) and Senate (Chuck Schumer and Kerstin Gillibrand) to request immediate support for the President's Budget for Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps helicopter programs. Programs include the Air Force CRH and UH-1N replacement, Navy MH-60R and S platforms, Marine Corps CH-53K and VH-92A, and the Army's UH/HH-60M helicopter programs which includes adding UH-60Ms to support the National Guard.

Additional discussions centered around the recent challenges of sequestration coupled with the challenges to maintain a skilled workforce and keep our supply chain intact, along with the importance to maintain the defense industrial base and sustain DoD business in NY and Long Island.

Alken Industries attends Vaughn College Career Fair
Jim Madden (EVP and COO) and Kenneth Andwood (Lead Estimator and Vaughn College Alumni President) attended the Fall Career Fair held September 25, 2014. The Spring Career Fair is scheduled for April 9, 2015.

Alken Industries was profiled on LI News Radio 103.9FM on October 25. 

Jim Madden, Alken's Executive Vice President and COO, was interviewed by Scott Passeser from the station. 

Jim spoke about Alken's capabilities and history, with focus on Kenneth Senior and his legacy (Kenneth Senior Aerospace Foundation), along with current leadership team in place.  Jim also addressed the aerospace products and customers that Alken currently serves, along with the company's Women Owned Small Business (WOSB) status.  Jim also described Alken's involvement in the community, including its close association with Vaughn College and the Cradle Of Aviation, along with the company's recent involvement in Manufacturing Day.  Jim also shared his views on sequestration and the company's plan for growth which includes the need for more qualified machinists on Long Island.

Alken Awarded 5 Year IDIQ Contract

In September 2014, Alken Industries has been awarded a 5 year Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract from the United States Air Force for A-10 Thrust Fittings valued at $3,219,007.

Alken Industries Supports the 1 in 9 Breast Cancer Action Coalition

Alken Industries supported the efforts of the Long Island EMBA Alumni Organization's Golf Outing which raised $75,000 for the 1 in 9 Breast Cancer Action Coalition's Hewlett House. At the 1 in 9 Hewlett House people with cancer and their families can become involved in networking and receive support from those going through similar experiences. Hewlett House provides resources, support, encouragement and hope and believes that together we can fight cancer.
