Alken Industries Supports Manufacturing Day

Manufacturing Day was a great success with over 1,600 events taking place nation-wide, and Alken Industries helped put Long Island on the map as 1 of 10 companies to open their doors on October 3, 2014. Details of the event can be found on the following link http://www.mfgday.com/events/2014/alken-industries.

Manufacturing Day has been designed to expand knowledge about, and improve public perception of manufacturing careers and Manufacturing's value to the US economy. The event was co-produced by the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, International (FMA), the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), The Manufacturing Institute, the National Institute of Standards and Technology's (NIST) Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP), and Industrial Strength Marketing (ISM). The Long Island Forum for Technology (LIFT) attended our open house and expressed how excited they were that Alken opened its doors and shared their story along with how much of an impact the tour had on our visitors.

Alken Supports Aerospace and Defense Diversification Alliance in Peacetime Transition (ADDAPT) and the Cradle of Aviation Museum

Alken supported the Long Island Aerospace and Defense Summit at the Cradle of Aviation Museum on June 24, 2014. This event was presented by the Aerospace and Defense Diversification Alliance in Peacetime Transition (ADDAPT) and the Cradle of Aviation Museum (CAM) that brings together Aerospace and Defense manufacturers and suppliers from the NY region. The 2014 Summit encouraged industry to connect, communicate, identify new business opportunities, partnerships, and discuss the needs of the industry for our region.

Alken also took part in ADDAPT's Golf Outing which took place on September 29, 2014.

2014 KSASF 6th Annual Golf Outing Benefits Vaugh College, The Cradle of Aviation Museum and Now Suffolk Community College

This years’ 6th annual golf outing had the best weather we have experienced to date! I think it was the best time we have had so far too! I would never, in my wildest dreams, have imagined that our Kenneth Senior Aerospace Scholarship Foundation would have the impact it has had and will continue to have on our community particularly given we have only been at it for just 6 short years.  We attracted close to 100 golfers all scrambling for their best ball. Ray Suris of team Suris & Associates Law came out on top and became this year’s champions.  We raised approximately $38,000 with this year’s event putting our total net dollars raised to date at better than $186,000! CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL!

The Senior family has had many conversations through the years about our intentions and how we intend to pay it forward, but candidly we had no idea where to start. One of the conversations we had some years ago lead us to a wonderful women named Kalli Kousutis.  Kalli works at Vaughn College and has been instrumental with the Foundation since its inception. Our collective efforts has helped to support 8 different recipients with 9 $10,000 scholarships.  It is through your generous support we have created an incredible yearly tradition for all involved.

We ask that you “Hold the Date” for next year’s event. The 7th annual KSASF golf outing will be on Monday, May 18, 2015

I want to mention a few other deserving causes that all of us through the KSASF continue to support.

The Cradle of Aviation Museum. https://www.cradleofaviation.org
A newer organization we plan to support is Suffolk County Community College. www.sunysuffolk.edu.

2013 KSASF 5th Annual Golf Outing - A Wonderful Tradition

This years 5th annual golf outing boasts over 110 golfers scrambling for the best ball. Charlie Schlauch’s team came out as the champions. We raised nearly $30,000 this year, putting our total efforts above $155,000!

Your generous support has not only created a wonderful tradition for all of us but great momentum for our future events.

As you know we remain fully committed to Vaughn College and the opportunities the college avails to engineering students on Long Island, so much so that this year KSASF will be donating three $10,000 scholarships instead of two!  We continue to donate monies as well to the Foster Foundation www.forsterfoundation.com.  The Foster Foundation, as you may know, is dedicated to giving 100% of funds raised to pediatric cancer research.  Lastly, another partner to benefit from your generosity is The Cradle of Aviation www.cradleofaviation.org.  For more information on our event and our offerings please visit our website www.ksasf.org. You will also find this year’s event pictures.  Enjoy!

Thank you, again, so very much for allowing us the opportunity to honor our father’s memory and for helping us to keep his spirit and passion alive.

2012 KSASF Golf Outing Helps Students and Pediatric Cancer Patients

The Fourth Annual KSASF Golf Outing was a huge success thanks to Alken Industries and their generous employees and customers! We were not afraid of a little rain, because that was all it was - a little rain. We had over 130 golfers pass through the greens this year and we were nearly at maximum capacity. Once again we laughed and cried at the outpouring of support and generosity that filled the Port Jefferson Country Club.  We raised over $34,000 this year, putting our total efforts above $125,000!
This generous support has not only created a wonderful tradition for all of us but great momentum for our future events. As you know we remain fully committed to Vaughn College and the opportunities the college avails to engineering students on Long Island but in addition to our support of Vaughn we have decided to donate monies to the Foster Foundation www.forsterfoundation.com.  The Foster Foundation is dedicated to giving 100% of funds raised to pediatric cancer research.  Lastly, another partner to benefit from your generosity is The Cradle of Aviation www.cradleofaviation.org.  For more information and photos of this event please visit our website www.ksasf.org
Thank you, again, so very much for allowing us the opportunity to honor our father’s memory and for helping us to keep his spirit and passion alive.  KSASF and You are now paying it forward!

2011 KSASF Golf Outing a Success

The day of our event was not only sunny, but it was our best year ever! We raised over $36,000 dollars with forty less golfers. The KSASF supporters, like you, have raised close to $100,000 of total donations over the last 3 years in a most difficult economy.

Thank you, again, so much for allowing us the opportunity to celebrate our father’s memory and for helping us to honor his spirit and passion. Most fitting to this end is a quote that was produced at the reception by Dr John Fitzpatrick, President of Vaughn College, as he addressed the participants “Through your support, we are able to better prepare our students to meet the demands of the aviation industry.”

Pictured, Vaughn College's Sharon DeVivio, Senior Vice President, Dr. John Fitzpatrick, President of Vaughn College, and Kalli Koutsoutis Assistant Vice President. Along with them is last year’s scholarship recipients Robert Andersen and Jennifer Rosati as well as this years recipients Thomas Pekar & Zachariah Gajadhar. From KSASF are Maria Senior and Bridgette DeMinico.

Your generous support has not only created a wonderful tradition for all of us but great momentum for our future events. Please visit our website KSASF.org to view this year’s event photos.
